Multi on base stopped, but Ha-Sung Kim stock price

Back-to-back multi-base record 15 stops

1 for 4 in an away game against Seattle

About MVP candidates...a mock vote

Attention to whether Choo Shin-soo and Ryu Hyun-jin will follow

San Diego infielder Kim Ha-sung (28)'s consecutive "multi-base" record stopped in 15 games. Although he did not set the first record, Kim Ha-sung is performing so well that he is mentioned as one of the MVP candidates this season.

Kim Ha-sung started as the first batter and second baseman in an away game against Seattle in the Major League Baseball (MLB) at T Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington on the 9th. In the game, he challenged the multi-base record in 16 consecutive games that none of the Asian hitters in the big leagues had achieved.

Kim Ha-sung tied for first place as an Asian hitter in this category with Japanese baseball hero Ichiro Suzuki as he succeeded in multiple on-base hits in 15 consecutive games with two hits in five at-bats against the LA Dodgers the previous day.

Unfortunately, Kim Ha-sung was blocked by opposing starter Logan Gilbert, who pitched one hit and no runs in seven innings, and failed to set a new record. Kim Ha-sung, who struck out swinging as the leadoff hitter in the top of the first inning, also struck out swinging in the top of the third inning, his second at-bat. Kim Ha-sung, who met Gilbert once again in the top of the sixth inning with two outs, struck out three consecutive at-bats due to the referee's dubious strike decision.

Kim Ha-sung, however, hit in his last at-bat and continued his hit streak for 14 consecutive games. He hit a slider by changed pitcher Andres Munoz to lead to a heavy hit. Kim Ha-sung, who had one hit in four at-bats, maintained his season batting average of 0.288. The team lost 0-2 and lost three games in a row.

Kim Ha-sung, who has emerged as one of the best "aircraft and field" infielders in the Major League beyond his club this season, is now starting to be mentioned as an MVP candidate.

Although it is not likely to win the award, it is meaningful in that it is on par with league MVP-level players.

MLB released the results of a mock vote for MLB MVP in the 2023 season with 48 experts participating on the 8th. They selected the five closest players to MVP in the American League (AL) and the National League (NL), respectively.

Kim Ha-sung did not finish in the top five in the vote, but was named one of the winners along with Cody Bellinger (Chicago Cubs) and Nolan Hernado (St. Louis). This means that some of the experts rated Kim Ha-sung's performance this season as the NL "top 5."

If Kim Ha-sung actually wins votes in the MLB regular season MVP vote, he will be the third Korean major league MVP after Choo Shin-soo (currently SSG) and Ryu Hyun-jin (Toronto).
